Learn to Read Crochet Patterns
with Cindy Carver
$30
Crochet patterns can feel confusing at first, with abbreviations, symbols, and instructions that may not make sense when you’re just starting out, but this workshop will help you build clarity and confidence. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to “decode” patterns step by step by breaking down common abbreviations, understanding repeats, and reading instructions without feeling overwhelmed. You’ll also practice with a simple sample pattern so you can immediately apply what you learn during class. Topics include reading line-by-line instructions and symbols, understanding turning chains and stitch counts, and tips for avoiding common mistakes. Students should have basic crochet skills (slip knot, foundation chain, and familiarity with single, double, and treble crochet) and bring worsted weight yarn, an appropriate hook (5.5mm–6.5mm suggested), and scissors.
