Come join the buzz as Bee-ginning Beekeeping provides you with an introduction to hobby beekeeping! This class will review the origins of beekeeping and opportunities and challenges facing apiculture today. You’ll learn the basics of how to start beekeeping as a hobby, along with aids like tools, hive and protective suit, further educational opportunities here in the Hills, and time for questions/answers.

This introductory course explores how to grow fresh food year-round using hydroponics and aquaponics, even without soil or outdoor space. You’ll learn how these systems use water, nutrients, and natural biological processes to support plant growth, including how fish, plants, and beneficial bacteria work together. The class covers key concepts like system types, lighting, water quality, and the best crops for indoor growing. Participants will also gain practical ideas for setting up their own small-scale systems at home. No prior gardening experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to learn.
