New to crochet? This focused, hands-on “Boot Camp” is designed for absolute beginners who want to learn the basics in a single afternoon through a structured, supportive, and immersive session. You’ll receive step-by-step instruction, guided practice, and individualized support as you learn how to hold yarn and hooks, make a slip knot and foundation chain, and work single and double crochet stitches while understanding tension and stitch height. By the end of class, you’ll also be able to recognize and correct common beginner mistakes and feel confident continuing on your own. Students will complete a small practice swatch to demonstrate the stitches learned, as this is a skill-building workshop rather than a full project class. Please bring worsted weight yarn in a light color, a 5.5–6.5 mm hook (or size appropriate for your yarn), scissors, and optional stitch markers; no prior experience is required, and breaks will be included.

Discover the exciting world of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and 3D printing in this hands-on, engaging class. Participants will learn the differences between hand-drawn and CAD-generated drawings, including Orthographic and Isometric views, while gaining practical experience using the SolidWorks CAD software. Students will explore essential design tools, create their own parts and assemblies, and learn how digital designs are transformed into physical objects through the Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) process and 3D printing. Your instructor is Director of Computer Science from WDT with 30 years in the computer field! This hands-on course is designed for adults with little to no computer experience who want to build essential digital skills for everyday life, work, or personal enrichment. Participants will begin to learn how to confidently navigate computers, use the Windows operating system, manage files and folders, and explore the internet safely and effectively. The course also introduces basic word processing, email use, and common life applications like Microsoft products and Google. Note: Students should bring their own laptop computer.

This course will equip students with the fundamental knowledge and skills required to use the metal lathe for precision machining operations in a hobby shop, home shop, or farm shop environment. The course covers machine safety, setup, maintenance, and operation of the metal turning lathe. This is a “hands-on” course that engages the students in projects designed to develop their skills in using the lathe. Training covers precision measurement, turning, facing, boring, threading, tapering, and knurling operations.
