Basic Welding

This course will equip students with the fundamental knowledge and skills required to employ the commonly used welding processes in a hobby shop, home shop, metal art studio, or a farm shop environment, The course covers welding machine safety, setup, maintenance, and operation of equipment. This is a “hands-on” course that engages the students in welding exercises designed to develop their skills. Training covers oxy-acetylene welding and cutting, wire feed welding, shielded metal arc welding, and plasma cutting.
Introduction to Welding - Hill City

FIRST DAY WILL BE ON SEPTEMBER 17TH FROM 6:00pm-8:00PM. EVERY CLASS AFTER WILL BE ON TUESDAY.
This community education course provides foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in welding processes and safety practices. Designed for beginners and individuals looking to develop or improve their welding skills, the course will introduce participants to essential welding techniques, including Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/Stick) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/Wire-Feed MIG).As participants progress, additional instruction in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG) may be introduced. Emphasis will be placed on proper welding procedures, equipment setup, weld quality, and industry-standard safety practices. OSHA-based safety standards and shop safety protocols will be taught and strictly followed throughout the course.Participants will complete a variety of hands-on welding projects designed to build confidence and practical welding skills. NOTE: $50 material fee will be paid directly to the Instructor.
Foundational Skills for Dogs (Puppies)

Foundation Skills is designed for adolescent puppies who may suddenly seem to have forgotten their manners—pulling on the leash, ignoring cues, jumping, or developing a little “selective hearing.” In this four-week class, you and your puppy will build essential life skills including sit, down, loose-leash walking, reliable recalls, impulse control, focus, and confidence through positive, relationship-based training. Rather than focusing solely on obedience, we help strengthen communication and understanding between you and your dog during this important stage of development. You'll leave with practical skills you can use every day and a puppy that is eager to work with you and succeed in the real world. This class is ideal for puppies 4–6 months of age. No previous training is required. Class size is limited to six dogs to ensure individualized instruction and plenty of one-on-one coaching. Dogs need to be current on age-appropriate vaccinations. NOTE: $135 is paid directly instructor for supplies and facility use. Students should bring a 6 foot leash, a buckle collar, collar/harness they walk the pup on, high value treats such as hotdogs or cheese. (no retractable leashes) **NOTE: No Class on 10/2!
Essential Skills for Dogs (<1 year)

Essential Skills is the perfect next step for dogs who know the basics but need help using those skills reliably in everyday life. In this four-week class, you'll strengthen core behaviors such as sit, down, stay, loose-leash walking, recalls, focus, and impulse control while learning how to work successfully around real-world distractions. Rather than simply practicing obedience cues, we focus on building reliability, confidence, and teamwork so your dog can make good choices in a variety of situations. You'll leave with practical training skills, improved communication, and a dog that understands what you're asking and enjoys working with you. NOTE: $135 is paid directly instructor for supplies and facility use. Students should bring a 6 foot leash, a buckle collar, collar/harness they walk the pup on, high value treats such as hotdogs or cheese. (no retractable leashes)
American Mah Jongg: The Basics

Mah Jongg is a table game in which players use number and symbol tiles to form hands and score points. With origins in ancient China, the exotic tiles provide an experience in sight and sound for a fun and mentally challenging social game of chance. This course teaches rules and basic strategies of American Mah Jongg, using National Mah Jongg League rules. Tile sets are provided for class practice, but in addition to the tuition fee, each student purchases a NMJL Rules and Hands reference card through the instructor. NOTE: Additional $14 supply fee for smaller reference card (or $15 for larger reference card) paid to instructor at class.
Fall Safely Using Aikido

Aikido is a Japanese self-defense art with the main principle of being in harmony with everyone! This class introduces This class introduces exercises that Aikido used to help in falling safely and improve your balance as well as your core. It is suitable for Adults only (over 21 years old). Classes will be taught at Canyon Lake Activity Center 2nd floor. We are affiliated with the Aikido Shimbokukai organization. All physical sizes, shapes and skill levels are most welcome to join us and students should wear comfortable work out clothing or judo/karate do gi.
Native Hand Drum Workshop

Come join us to create your own 13-inch Native American hand drum with a drumstick. We’ll use cedar wood (a sacred herb), deer leather, and black walnut to make it unique and beautiful. Then we’ll stain and wrap the drumstick. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn this true native art. NOTE: Additional $140 supply fee paid to instructor at class; cash or debit/credit cards are accepted but no checks please. Students will bring a sack lunch/snack/drink and take a 30-minute break to enjoy.
