The class is designed for individuals seeking to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently. The class would be great for anyone wanting to learn this trade. Also, for contractors, the class could be training for your employees. The class is a basic introduction to heavy equipment operations. You will learn safety, maintenance, and technical aspects of the equipment, but you’ll be trained to operate heavy equipment that’s used in commercial and industrial construction. Each person will be given 4 hours on each simulator. The simulations will give you the skills and allow you to see what it is like to operate the “real thing”. NOTE: This class is at the same time as Intro to Woods. Please do not sign up for both. 

Aikido is a Japanese self-defense art with the main principle of being in harmony with everyone! This class introduces  Aikido basic exercises, some practical self-defense exercise, as well as some basic Japanese language. Classes will be taught at Rushmore Ju-jitsu Dojo. We are affiliated with the Aikido Shimbokukai organization. Students should wear comfortable work out clothing or judo/karate do gi.

Pickleball has taken over the country in popularity for all ages because it’s great fun and you can be active in all weather conditions as you play indoor pickleball! This class will introduce you to the sport, proper form, scoring and much more, so come join the fun…it’s naturally social-distanced! Students should please dress comfortably, wear tennis shoes, and bring a bottle of water. If you’d prefer to use your own racquet, please bring it, but court time, balls and racquets will be provided for everyone. Please register for the class that suits you. Ages 12-years old and older are welcome to attend. NOTE: Additional $10 supply fee per person paid to instructor at class.

This course provides an introduction to woodworking and cabinetry, emphasizing shop safety and the proper operation of all equipment in the wood shop. Students will gain hands-on experience by designing and constructing a small project of their choice. All project material costs are the responsibility of the individual student. NOTE: This class is at the same time as Heavy Equipment Tranning Class. Please do not sign up for both. NOTE: Students should be ready to provide instructor $50 for supplies on the first day of the class.

Always wanted to learn American Sign Language? Enroll in this introductory class and learn the basics to get you started to be able to communicate with people who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing! We will start with the essential signs for greeting, introductions, fingerspelling, colors, numbers, and common phrases. The welding class provides foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in various welding techniques and safety practices. Designed for beginners and those looking to refine their skills, the class will cover essential welding methods, including stick and wire-feed welds. Depending on the progression, students will also learn the TIG weld. Safety is important; OSHA standards will be learned and followed. NOTE: Students should be ready to provide instructor $50 for supplies on the first day of the class.

This community education course is designed for individuals interested in learning the fundamentals of woodworking and cabinetry. Participants will receive instruction on shop safety, proper use, and operation of woodworking equipment and tools commonly found in a wood shop environment. Emphasis will be placed on safe work habits, basic woodworking techniques, and project planning.Throughout the course, participants will have the opportunity to build a small woodworking project while developing hands-on skills and confidence in the shop. Project materials are not included in the course fee; each participant is responsible for the cost of materials for their individual project.
